Support Your Local Animal Shelter & Meet JO!

JO sewing the cat beds!
The pile of cat beds we stuffed!

My friend "JO" has a heart of gold! She volunteers at our local animal shelter in Cass County in Michigan for the cats. She makes "cat beds" for all the adopted cats and kitties and even some for the ones that are still residents of the "county". She had a "call out" to her friends and relatives to come and help stuff the beds, 48 of them, that she had cut and sewn and all we had to do was stuff them. We got all 48 stuffed before we left, and she still has to sew the tubes to the pillows. Now all the fleece, stuffing, thread and TIME is donated by Jo, she also helps pay for spaying and neutering to help save a cats life. Please help out YOUR local shelter, even if its only a $2 donation to help pay for food, litter, toys, or health care for either a dog or a cat! All these animals need OUR help to have a happy and healthy life....as "JO" says..."adopt a Shelter animal"...save a life!

Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #10

Well, here I am again with another color challenge. But my darn camera (or dark log house) make the colors look pink...eeeeegads, they are not, I used SU Cameo Coral, chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla . The stamp set I used is one I JUST received, yep, I used a new one! Its from Unity stamp company and its called "Shine On".....I love this set, the lamps (and there are 2 more) come single, so you can use them anyway you want! I paper pieced these and added some bling and trim. The inside of the card is stamped "You light up my life" and "Happy Birthday"

The color Challenge is one from Dawn McVey called Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #10.

These challenges have been good for me, as I just have not been motivated at all to create, I have been buying, but just not using...stupid on my part!!!

I'll be back later with more challenges!

Color Inspiration Challenge

Here is the card I did for a K Werner Design challenge #55. I used my newest purchase from Unity Stamp Co called "Growing In Unity", the sentiment is also a Unity stamp! Every Wednesday, Unity has a "garage sale", they have several sets they offer at 50% and $2 shipping, so needless to say, my Unity collection is growing! Today is Wednesday, so why not head on over and check out the great deals!

The colors I choose are all Stampin'Up!, Really Rust, More Mostard, Grey, and very vanilla. One of the best things about this card is I used scraps to complete it, and the ribbon is the very last of a tiny piece I had...yeah!

I am working on some more challenges this week, I had to do something to get me motivated! If you click on the links above you can go to Unity or the K Werner Design Blog...have fun!!

International Flair~Tri Shutter Card Challenges

I have been needing inspiration lately~lots of it, so I decided to do a few of the challenges to "get me going"! There are so many out there to do, and its lots of fun and it really makes you think, I think sometimes I have so much to work with, I am not sure where to begin~do you ever feel like that? Its overwhelming at times! And worse, I still want MORE!!

This week I decided to start with two challenges over at SCS. One was to make a card with a different language on it, called "International Flair". I was going to use a French thank you stamp "Merci", then remembered my friend Mary from Primitive Seasons sent this Asian thank you characters stamp from Stampendous! How perfect is that? I also saw the link at SCS to make a TRI Shutter card, so I combined the two, the link to make it can be found here , the card base was very easy, putting the DS paper on was hardest for me! And check out that big flower on the front, I stamped it with SU's newest soon to be released Crushed Curry...yummy! Oh, and check out the background paper behind my card, its SU's to be released July NEW DS paper Razzleberry Lemonade!!!
Recipe: Stampin'Up! Petal Pizzaz, Great Friends (butterflies), Bird On a Branch (bird) Inks: Crushed Curry, Pacific Point, Tangerine Tango and Basaic Black, Card Stock: Tangerine Tango, Kiwi Kiss, Black, Punches: Sm Tag, Lg Tag, 3 flower.
Other: DS paper Friendly Forest, Citrus, Stampendous Asian Collection

Mackinac Island

The Mackinac Bridge, or the "Mighty Mac" as we like to call it, conneccting lower Michigan to upper Michigan, known as the "UP" here. The front porch on The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, its the longest porch you will ever see, the film "Somewhere In Time" with Christopher Reeves was filmed here....just beautiful!
These are BIG, life size horses, all made of plants, they are called Peat & Moss...very funny!

This is just one of the 100's of lilac displays that are on the island, in fact they just had their "lilac festival"!

I spent the last 5 days "Up North" as we like to call it here in Michigan! While "North" we spent a day at Mackinac Island as we do every year to celebrate our anniversary! I didn't get the best pictures and not many either,a s it was a somewhat cooler and foggy day! But here are a few I thought I would share with you until I have time to "create" again!

Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #9

I decided to join in on a challenge today called Raspberry Suite Challenge by Dawn McVey here . The colors to use were grass green, cream and black. I know my card looks like white, but it really is SU Very Vanilla. I used a DS paper from a past SU DS paper package. The stamp is Stampin'Up! Le Jardin Botanique, the ink is basic black and a Dew Drop Olive chalk ink, a rather clean and simple card. I stamped the inside of the card using the same stamp set with the sentiment GOD writes the GOSPEL not in the BIBLE alone, but on TREES and FLOWERS and CLOUDS and STARS. Martin Luther

Faux Pinwheels & NEW SU Stamp Set

Finally I have something to post! I have not worked on any projects for several days, had sore throat issues...much better now!

Anyhow, I saw these Faux Pinwheels here , now be prepared when you visit her blog to spend some time there, she has the coolest things posted! I changed one of the pinwheels by using my Stampin'Up! Scallop Square Punch! I like how it turned out!
The last card, I used a scrap of SU's Pink Flamingo paper, added Stickles to the flower centers, Crystal Effects to the Balloons, and the darling elephant is from a new set called Animal Stories..and yes we CAN show our pre-order sets, just not allowed to show any from our new catalogs until July 1st, and I HAVE to say, it is loaded with yummy paper, new stamp sets, ribbon, dies and lots more!!! Quick post, I have waaaaaaaaay too much housework to do today! I'll be back later this week with more "goodies" to share, I have another SU order, a Unity Stamp order, and some crepe paper ribbon arriving this week..........ahhhhhhh Life Is Good!!

Vases In Vogue

I created this card using a "retired" past SU hostess set "Vases In Vogue". It seemed to be calling out to me "stamp me~stamp me", as it had never been inked before! I need some cards to send with a friend of mine that sells them for me where she works, nothing fancy as I sell them all for only $2! I used my much neglected SU stampin markers on this card, easy peazy! I also used a Making Memories tag crimper (can't recall the real name...sigh!) that I "had to have" and have used very little, and why I don't know, as it sure is cute! I also used up scrap paper and a pre-made card base from at least 10 years ago...no kidding!

Sunday Stampin" Up! Workshop

These are a few of the items we did at a workshop I had on Sunday. The firecrackers I "cased" from another blog and gave those away as a prize. The popsicle card is one we did fast! We also did the candle stamping, and then the little BBQ silverware holders using the SU Sizzix pillow box die. I saw that idea in our March SU Success and thought it was a brilliant idea. I also made the brownie pops using a Wilton baking pan I purchased at Michaels and gave each guest a "treat" and an idea for BBQ's. I made a 4th of July banner, not shown right now as the pics weren't too good, I think it was a fun workshop and enjoyed by all!

Buzz~Buzz~Buzz

Its been a busy week here at "the cabin". I am getting ready for a SU workshop tomorrow, so nothing new to post, yet! I will have the workshop samples posted on Monday, as I keep them "secret" until after the workshops!

So, I wanted to share this photo of my granddaughter that was in a dance recital last Saturday. She was 3 in Feb and started her dance lessons at 2 1/2! I "stole" this photo off my daughters photgraphy blog, and if you want to see more of her darling "baby bee" pics, go here .

Please Don't Pick The Daisies

I made this layout for the Stamp Tv scrapbook challenge. These photos are from several years ago, when my almost 15 year old granddaughter was about 5! My neighbors had a field of Daisies, which the new owners have since mowed. I think I am going to add a bit of stamped leaves or vines to fill in the bare spots, seems it needs something more! All the flowers were cute with my Daisy Sizzix die I purchased thru Stampin'Up!....just a fun challenge to scrapbook for a change! Click on the photo for a better view of the page!

Unity Monocromatic Cards

I did a couple of cards using my Unity KOM (Kit of the Month) sets for a challenge Unity had going! The challenge was "monocromatic". I chose for my first card a hue of orange colors. It is nice and bright and I sure need that on this 3rd rainy, gloomy, and cool day! Iused the Versa Magic Dew Drop chalk inks for the image and SU Only Orange for the sentiment.

The second card has a more vintage feel to it. I love this bird cage image! Thats what I like so much about being a member of the Unity KOM club, you get at least 20 to 24 stamps in high quality rubber and there is such a variety each month, you should see the ones for June, they are so me! Whoops, here I go off on a different direction, again! I love the sentiment that is part of the bird cage stamp, yep its all one stamp, but they could be used separate, too! The back ground paper for this is from Prima Marketing~Studio D called The First Blush, there are 24 different patterns in this 5 x 7 paper pack and everyone of them is "yummy"! The prima flower is from the same company in their "Nursey Tales" line~

If you want to visit Unity, I have a blinkie on my side bar you can click on~check out those kit of the months, plus all the other great stamps and the designers blogs...so fun....but there is lots to see, so grab a cup of latte and be prepared to stay awhile!

Window Flower Card & Gift Tag

I decided to finally ink up my Stampin'Up! level two hostess set "Itty Bitty Buds". I knew when I first saw this set, it was a must have, as the flowers are perfect for a card like this! I am a "pack-rat" and save everything, so the "window" of the card was made by using a piece of "acetate" I got from some of that annoying packaging that most things come in (you know the kind I mean, where you almost destroy your item, just trying to get it out), anyhow, I save most all of it, even the smaller pieces, and use it all the time! I used my Scalloped Square "Nestabilities" from Spellbinders to cut my window. Behind the window on the inside of the card, I stamped "blossom" sentiment from SU's "Bloomin Beautiful". All the flowers were inked with the SU Stampin Spots Bold Brights and though it doesn't show well, all the flowers are "popped" up with various size pop dots.

I used the cutout piece from the window to make a matching tag, added a little ribbon, some bling jewels and thats it!
