Yellow Roses for CR84FN30 Color Challenge

Another day....another challenge...lol
This is my first time of doing a challenge for CR84FN color challenge.
The challenge is to use the colors of light blue~light yellow and kraft.
I stamped a piece of whisper white with bashful blue ink using a rose stamp I had....
added a piece of a yummy DS paper from SU....
then used a zigzag and a straight stitch on my machine around each piece
I love stitching on a card!!
I made 3 felt roses from yellow felt I cut in a spiral
the leaves were cut from kraft using a Sizziz die...I had intended to ink the edges with kraft ink
but had them on before I remembered...darn!!
stamped a SU sentiment and added my ribbon
love how it turned out...
inside has the same yellow DS paper!!

Memorial Day "Thank You" ~Simply Sunday Challenge at Getting Cricky

I just wanted to take the time today to say "thank you" to all that have served our country and to those that are still serving.
THANK YOU!!

This is my entry for the challenge at the "Getting Cricky" blog
the challenge is to make any project with a banner!!
I love how this card turned out....I made the "star" with the little banner dies for Papertrey Ink.
Each banner was hand stamped...some with itty bitty backgrounds from Papertrey
the rest from stamps I had.
Have a safe and Happy Memorial Day everyone!

From The Hearth ~ All Things Unity #32

All Things Unity is a new challenge for me......"From The Hearth" is to use any Unity stamp that is food related......I choose this pear that is from a long past Unity of The Month set...July a few years ago I think.....I stamped it in Dew Drops "Pear Tart"...of course I did... what else right...lol...and the last pear was stamped with Dew Drop Dandelion...added my still in love with "gingham" ribbon...and a little embossing strip at the bottom...simple...but I like it!!

PDCC83 ~ and What Is Blooming In Your Garden 3

I decided to do my 2nd challenge with The Play Date Cafe (PDCC83) honoring a "retiring" DT member "Sarah Anderson" that is leaving the team...though I don't know Sarah...I wish her the best with her new "venture"! The challenge is black and white with a splash of green....I decided to make a black and white "quilt" so to speak, by punching 20 1" squares, adhering them to card stock and then pulling out my ever faithful and much neglected SU top note die...good thing I am organized enough with my paper scraps that I could just pull the black scraps easily out........I added a stamped and cut out flower and what I thought was a perfect sentiment "for this occasion" "simply.be.who.you.are"...both stamps are by Unity.....I popped up both the flower and banner.
My next post are just a few of what's blooming in my garden this week...we have had hard rains.....but it still managed to look pretty spectacular!  I post pictures of my garden every Sunday...this week the poppies and the Iris took the "show"...I have tons more of photos and other color of Iris and Poppies...maybe Ican squeeze more in later this week!

Less Is More Challenge #17 ~ Pick A Square

This is my second "attempt" at the less is more challenge "pick a square"..........this one is for you  Mandi and Chrissie...I hope I did better...me and that stupid ribbon on the post below...this stamp is just one I have had for quite sometime......I inked the corner and then stamped my image and added a bit of tiny bling centers to each flower....I like it...I hope you do....I have been seeing some wonderful entries (which shamed me into doing a better one)......this was a great challenge...can't wait to see what will be next weeks...love a good challenge!!

Less Is More Challenge #17 ~Square

This week the Less Is More Challenge is to be "square" (see sketch)......I used a cuttlebug little embossing folder and colored it with Pebbles Creme Chalk ......I love this chalk....I purchased it at Hobby Lobby with a 40% off coupon...what a great way to try it out...I liked it so much I have since gone back and bought other color groups...it has a bit of metallic in it.....
I had to add the ribbon to my card...it just screamed for it.......I decided that there is no wrong or right way, that if we all made our cards the exact same way it would be a boring world (that's my story and I am sticking to it...lol)..... sorry Mandi and Chrissie...honestly I could hear this card screaming all the thru the house to add that ribbon...and its only a skinny one...just close one eye and look at my card and maybe you won't notice the addition...hahhah........
Sorry I couldn't leave comments last week, so thank you to all that visited me...I will visit you this week....now my followers disappear and reappear...thanks blogger!!
Don't forget to come back tomorrow to see my "what's blooming in your garden post"...I have some beauties this week.
Also wanted to add the ribbon on my card does match perfectly...it's the gloomy weather here...bad for photo taking...cold, too!!

Flourishes Timeless Tuesday #119

Still NOT able to leave comments...so frustrating!!!

Flourishes Timeless Tuesday is having us make a box or bag this week for a gift........I have had these blank MS little boxes for quite sometime, so instead of making my own, I made this one "my own"...lol...I used my Sweet Pea set.... stamped directly onto the box and colored it with my Copics (which I am still learning)...I added a bit of stickles for some sparkle and a butterfly...the ribbon is a wonderful pink organza.....I added some shredded paper to finish it off.......I will leave comments when (if ever) I can...come on blogger get this fixed!!!!!!!!!!

The Spoon ~Tag Tuesday Challenge

This week for Tag Tuesday the theme is a spoon ~ now I have to admit it thru me for a moment....then I remembered I had this small gold spoon that I had bought years ago for another project...and best thing was I knew (amazing in itself) right where it was!  I like a good challenge...one that makes you think...and not too easy!
I "overstamped" my background with an inchie Inkadinkado stamp from a kitchen series...its a little cooking pan that reminds me of corningware........I used a punched pieced that was left over from sonething else.....some of my own yummy died seam binding.....created the "bon appetit" on my computer using French Script (clever hmm).......I think this will be a perfect tag to take a gift when going to a bar-b-que!  Now if "fork" is ever the theme, I am prepared as the spoon has a matching one...lol!!

Papertrey Ink Blog Hop ~ Flowers

This month for the May Papertrey Ink Blog Hop we are to feature "flowers" on our project!  I used some ribbon roses on my papertrey ink "button card"...wish you could see the background paper on the button card as it is a gorgeous floral yellow....I also opted to zigzag stitch on my card...though I don't do it often, I "love" the stitched look on cards.
I also want to mention that I am still not able to comment on most blogs...blogger is still working on it and I hope they resolve it soon as it has become quite annoying!

I have a few more post today if you would like to take a "peek"!

Blogger Issues Again

Just a quick note...I am having blogger issues..AGAIN......and am not able to leave comments for some crazy reason......it asks me to sign in and when I do, takes me back to the comment as anonymous and then goes back to sign in over again and again and again...okay I am off before my blood boils over this...is this happening to anyone else???
Thanks to all that have left "me" comments...hope this gets resolved!

Edited to add:...well it seems I am not the only one with issues and blogger is addressing it...not sure when it will be fixed though...sigh!!  I can leave some comments, but if I missed you...sorry..I will try after it is fixed!

Embellish Magazine Tag Challenge

It's a nice warm morning here...I was able to leave the bedroom slider open all night for a light breeze.....and after being up so early on Sunday I slept like a baby and woke to a zillion singing birds....love the sounds of nature!

I made a shabby chic tag for the Embellish Magazine Colors Trend Challenge "tags"...I know it is hard to see, but the background of my tag is stamped in grey swirls....I added bits of paper.....can you see the little owl?....the lace at the bottom I inked for the color I wanted....added a strip of silver glitter rick rack...

the paper at the edge.....well, it fell out of the closet as I was working.....no joke...so it worked perfect for my shabby chic look...I have this"ruffled paper garland trim in lots of wonderful colors that I purchased from Ebay...it is from Bethany Lowe......the tiny flowers were added....and the little fern leaves were punched with a MS punch..... that the handle broke off on the third punch......arrrrg.......so now will have to purchase a new one...thats's it...don't forget I post garden pictures every Sunday of what has bloomed in my garden "that week"

Card & Tag Combo~What's Blooming In Your Garden Two~Food For Thought

Good Sunday Morning!
I have been up since 3am.....thinking about  life...what it brings to you...how short it is....what you take from it....and sometimes how to deal with it...just random thoughts going thru my mind...enough to keep me awake......
I made another set of a card and tag for the Joan's Gardens Card Challenge and Tag Challenge...I emailed her and asked how many we could enter and her answer was "as many as you want...the more the better"....loved that answer as it relaxes one mind to "create".
I saw the layout for this card in the Papercrafts Go To Sketches designed by Ashley C. Newell.....I changed it a bit by adding embossing across the top and of course my tag....my plan is to do each and every sketch in the magazine as there are 282 sketches and some are very different form the normal A2 card.....

My next photo's are part two of "Whats blooming in Your Garden".....notice my cat Kitty Witty laying on the bench (which is getting  a new coat of paint very soon)......the Bachelor Buttons are almost glowing...and yesterday my first orange poppy burst open...hope the others hold off as we have rain predicted all week and its hard on the delicate poppy petals and I hope to be able to enjoy them a bit....the pink flower is my "tree peony"...the blooms are the size of a dessert plate.
the lilacs...the dark purple one was basically grown form a "stick" of a lilac..it is beautiful...the two tone lilac is one I have been searching for...for five years..called a French Lilac...it is still a small bush with only 2 blooms on it...I found it last year of all places "Lowes"

Last photo is of the wonderful supper I made for my hubby and me last night...though a bit annoyed as he showed up late and didn't get to appreciate my wonderful "presentation"...lol...it was Southwestern Salmon Steak...recommended by my stepson...and it was super delicious, fresh home grown aspargus grown about 5 miles from here, smashed potatos (recipe from Pioneer Womens blog) and a loaded green salad with poppy seed dressing (which came out of the bottle way too fast)!!

  Long post...hope you enjoyed it!

Less Is More Challenge # 16 ~ Butterflies

It's raining... what is new right??  What better way to spend a rainy afternoon then working on a challenge.........Simply Less Is More has their weekly challenge #16 "Butterflies"....I wish you could see this card in person, as the butterflies are all 2 layered and "glittery"....(although, I did one butterfly in a contrast).....but if you click on the card, they might show up better.....I bet I took 20 photo's and none of them are good...but like I said its gloomy and raining!
The sentiment I used is from SU "if nothing ever changed there would be no butterflies"....I debated if I should add a pearl to each butterfly and then decided against it...I love it just as is...now go and take a peek at the other entries...they are beautiful...so many concepts...so many ideas....or better yet, why not join in???

The Play Date Cafe Challenge ~ PDCC82

Good Saturday morning to you......
I am on my way to a Garden Club plant sale...looking mostly for lillies and Iris's.......
to start my Saturday off, I am doing my first ever "The Play Date Cafe Challenge"......

when I was looking for my 3 kittens stamp I used in a previous post, I saw a set of birdcage stamps I hadn't ever used (who me...lol)....and also hadn't used my SU Top Note die in quite awhile.....so putting it all together I think I made a simple and pretty card...the birdies are popped up..and don't you love that flower??
The colors I used were all SU...So Saffron~Soft Suede~Chocolate Chip and though it looks much "bluer" then it is...... Soft Sky

Tag Tuesday ~ Strawberries

This week "Tag Tuesday" has chosen "strawberries" as our challenge.....what fun...and perfect for this time of year.....plus I will have a nice summer tag if I need one......I made mine with the Bitty Background" stamps from Papertrey Ink.....I stamped it with SU Real Red.......the strawberry is from a vintage straw purse I purchased several years ago at a garage sale....the ribbon has been in my stash for quite awhile...wonder what we will be challenged with next week??

Give Away at Ravenwood Whimsies ~Hurry Ends June 5th

Hear ye Hear ye...there is a wonderful item being given away by Wendy at Ravenwoods Whimsies.....head on over by clicking on this link or on my side bar and put your entry in for this wonderful Uncle Sam....don't you just love him and his sheep..I know he would fit in my country house...and check out her blog for more then just the giveaway..it's fun...she bought this big old country home she will moving to in July...and Ican't wait to start seeing the decorating of it.......

One Layer Card ~ Embossing

I stayed up very late last night and worked on a few challenges....ahhh the quiet...the peacefulness...I got a lot accomplished to post this week......
I am entering this card in the "Less Is More" challenge which was to make a one layer card with embossing, and also in the Joan's Gardens card challenge and Joans Gardens Tag challenge to make a card and a matching tag...I very rarely combine  challenges as I really like to stay focused on only one challenge at a time (and I get more done that way).

I have had this "Mackinac Bridge" stamp "forever" (or the Mighty Mac) as it is called here...if you are not familar with the bridge it connects the Upper and Lower Penisulas of Michigan, it is 5 miles long...beautiful...and has been seen over and over on the history channel as well as "dirtiest jobs".
I added a matching tag to the mix so as to enter it into Joan's Gardens.....I also took a picture of my Ranger embossing powder so you can see the sparkle in the image that the camera didn't pick up......well this is a quick post...off to a neighborhood sale at my "Momma's........on another note, my sister was diagnosed with breast cancer yesterday...please give her a big prayer...thank you!!

Last Challenge At Joans Gardens For The Season~Combined Card & Tag

Joans Gardens is having her last challenge for the season......however her online store is always open to purchase from....the challenge is anything goes, but we were to make a matching challenge tag and challenge card.......I had this idea in my head for quite awhile.......I had mentioned in a few earlier posts of taking a trip to Joans gardens.....I used some of what I brought back...one of the purchases was the Tim Holtz Paper Stash Resist...the pattern of the paper is "old Patterns".....you spray it with Tattered Angels and/or Perfect Pearls mist (as I did)....then wipe it off ,and areas on the paper "resist" the ink.....I know it is hard to tell in the photo(click on the photo for better detail), but if you could see it in person, its quite noticable!  The butterflies used on both the tag and card are also from this paper line....while at Joans I purchased the new TH die "sewing room"...it was actually the reason I went there...for this "must have" die!!...I added a bit of vintage crochet lace to my dress form and tiny roses...my BIG flower is made from a piece of real pattern paper...I just gathered it and then sprayed it with Tattered Angels...I also stitched around the entire card and distressed all the edges...the little scissors are actually a metal "button"...

The tag.......used the same papers as the card...added a TH "reinforcer" to the tag hole...it is so cute as it has a button design all over it......the little dress form is from Papertrey...I have to make myself a mini album using these dress forms........I have been working on this "set" since 7:30 this morning and its after 1pm now.....it might not look like it, but it was a lot of work, but enjoyableI did forget one thing, I had planned to lightly ink the edges of the dress forms to define them more, but had them on before I remembered...I get so mad at myself when I do stupid things like that............
Recipe:
From Joans Gardens.........Tim Holtz paper Stash Resist~Tim Holtz Die Sewing Room~Tim Holtz Reinforcers~Perfect Pearls Mist~Tattered Angels Mist
Other products used:
Papertrey  dress form die
SU:  Crumb Cake cardstock~Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon
Other from my own stash!

Late for The Challenge ~ Screen Door Again

Sometimes I can be so dense...I saw this new challenge and LOVED it, so decided to give it a whirl...only thing is, I did last weeks...got ready to post it and noticed it was closed...hahahahaha......glad I can laugh at myself...but good news is the second one is up and running...so give it a "whirl" tonight.....the new challenge is from The Ribbon Reel....they have yummy ribbons.....and you all know my infatuation with ribbon...though like I mentioned several times...I am in love with "gingham" ribbons this month (last month, too).....so anyhow I am posting my lovely creation for you all to enjoy.....the screen door die can be found HERE on Joans Gardens blog.....I can't leave the thing alone!
The bird cage and stand were cut with my Cricut~the banner is a die from Papertrey Ink~the bitty flowers and the bird are MS punches~the butterfly is from SU
